Using SchooLinks to Track Experience
SchooLinks makes it easy for students to track important real-world experiences that support graduation requirements and post-secondary goals. Whether you're involved in a job, internship, volunteer work, or other hands-on learning, you can record your activities directly in SchooLinks using the Experience Tracker.
Experience tracking can be used to meet the requirements for several graduation options, including:
-
Student Engagement Diploma Seal
-
Community Service Diploma Seal
-
Work-Based Learning Hours
-
OhioMeansJobs Readiness Diploma Seal
-
Ohio Industry-Recognized Credential Seal
-
Honors Diploma Field Experience or Portfolio
Students will log details such as where they worked or volunteered, the tasks they completed, and the skills they developed. Supervisors or mentors will receive a separate email to verify the experience. School staff will then review and approve the entries.
Keeping an accurate record of your experiences not only helps you meet graduation requirements—it also prepares you for college, careers, and beyond.
See the information and tutorials below for step-by-step instructions.

See the tutorial below for step-by-step instructions.
Community Service Diploma Seal
Community service is a great way to give back to your community while developing important life skills like empathy, teamwork, leadership, and responsibility. To earn the Community Service Diploma Seal, you must complete volunteer hours through a nonprofit organization, such as a church, food pantry, hospital, or animal shelter.
Service Hour Requirements:
-
4 years at SHS – 20 hours
-
3 years at SHS – 15 hours
-
2 years at SHS – 10 hours
-
1 year at SHS – 5 hours
You can complete all your required hours in one year if you choose. All Sycamore students are eligible to earn this seal.
Use this tracker to record your volunteer activities, including the organization name, dates of service, tasks completed, and supervisor contact information. Keeping track of your service hours will help you stay organized and ensure you meet the requirements for the seal.
OMJ Readiness Diploma Seal
The OMJ Readiness Seal shows that you’ve demonstrated strong professional skills in real-world settings. To earn it, you must:
-
Demonstrate proficiency in each of 14 identified professional skills
-
Show these skills in at least two of the following areas: School, Work, Community
-
Have three trusted adults or mentors confirm your skills
Why It Matters: Earning the OMJ Readiness Seal can help you in several important ways:
-
It counts as one of the graduation seals required for a high school diploma
-
It can be used as an alternative way to show competency for graduation
-
It can be applied toward an Ohio Honors Diploma, which recognizes students who go above and beyond with challenging coursework and meaningful experiences
Tracking your experiences through SchooLinks helps you stay organized, reflect on your growth, and make progress toward your graduation goals.
See the tutorial below for step-by-step instructions.
Work Based Learning
Work-based learning helps you build real-world experience and career skills—whether you’re working at a job site, helping out after school, or participating in a simulated workplace. It’s important to keep track of these experiences so you can reflect on your growth and show your skills in the future.
Use the Experience Tracker in SchooLinks to log your work. Make sure to include:
-
Where you worked
-
What tasks you completed
-
What skills you developed
-
The name and email address of your supervisor or mentor
Your supervisor will get a separate email to verify your hours. Once they confirm, Sycamore staff will review and approve them.
See the tutorial below for step-by-step instructions.
Entering Multiple Experiences at Once
Some activities may count toward more than one experience type. For example, volunteer hours might apply to both the Community Service Seal and Work-Based Learning.
You have two options:
-
Enter the same activity separately under each category
-
Enter it once and select all the experience types it applies to
If you choose to enter it all at once, follow the steps below. Note: You may see some repeated questions—this is normal and helps collect the right information for each category.
