Sycamore Latin Club is open to all current and former Sycamore Latin students. Club meetings are held every Friday after school in HS Room 150. Students collaborate on a variety of artistic and academic projects in preparation for the annual Ohio Junior Classical League Convention held in Columbus every spring.

Sycamore High School's math club offers 19 math contests throughout the year.  An organizational meeting and officer election is held near the end of September, and contests take place after school, on Saturday mornings, and occasionally even during school hours from October through March

The Sycamore Mock Trial Program provides students the opportunity to learn firsthand about the law, court procedures and the judicial system while also building critical thinking and public speaking skills. Sycamore participates in multiple competitions from January to March including the state wide competition hosted by the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education. Schools in Ohio are assigned the same case. Every team will present their case once as the plaintiff\prosecution and once as the defense. Typically, Sycamore will have 2-3 teams, each team consisting of 7-11 students. Beginning in September, each team, coached by a volunteer licensed attorney, will practice 2-3 times per week. All Sycamore students are eligible for tryouts held in September.

Model UN is a student organization that allows students to become deeply involved in local, national and global issues. Students will research a specific topic and prepare to debate and defend a particular point of view at a conference. A topic from one of the conferences this year was the Syrian Refugee crisis and students from various schools were assigned roles from Russia, the US, the UN, Syria and all had to debate and defend from the perspective they were assigned. It is then the job of that committee to create solutions to the problem.

The club is great for a student looking to study world affairs, is interested in politics, wants to improve debate and public speaking, works well in groups and wants to have fun.

This is not your typical class and not just for journalists. Earn English elective credit and gain college plus scholarship recognition through your production portfolio. Be in control of how much you do. Work, play, travel with us as you improve your writing, share your voice, see immediate results, meet new people, fine tune your leadership potential, upgrade your speaking/collaborating/networking and marketing skills, experience the art of layout/design and learn more software than in any other HS class. As a published author, you will be a part of a student-run, award winning, nationally and internationally recognized program. Our team members may join at any grade in their high school career and loop with us for all four years. The purpose of convergence journalism class (The Leaf, The Leaflet, www.shsleaf.org and WAVES broadcast) is to inform the students, faculty, subscribers and community members of news, information, entertainment and issues that may influence or affect them.

Octaviation, Sycamore High A Cappella Group (SHAG) and Sycamore Women’s Ensemble of Excellent Trebles: Octaviation, SHAG and SWEET are comprised of 9th through 12th grade students.  Admission to these pop a cappella ensembles is the result of a demonstration of specific skills at audition.  Primary goals of this advanced ensemble consist of developing an a cappella singing style through exposure to music from all periods, strengthening vocal independence from instrumental accompaniment, providing opportunities for students to work in leadership capacities where possible, nurturing concert poise and stage etiquette, and heightening students’ awareness and ability to establish and recreate excellent intonation and blend. SHAG and SWEET are one of several ensembles who often represent Sycamore High School in the community performing throughout the school year in addition to the Choral Program concerts.  SHAG and SWEET rehearse as extra-curricular groups after school on Mondays from 2:30p - 4:30p.

Our club is an extended branch from the Operation Give Back organization. each month we will explore one of OGB's "Buckets" and work with club members to raise materials for needy families in our community.

Attempt physics experiments that will focus on applied science concepts and the engineering design process. Members will need no previous physics experience or knowledge and will learn the key concepts through experimentation. We will meet once every 2 weeks for 1 hour after school.

This club primarily focuses on the process of developing ideas, creating media, and building character by creating podcasts with friends! It grows speaking and debate skills, cooperation skills among your peers, and fosters a sense of leadership throughout the club. It also promotes writing skills and boosts creativity to create these podcasts

We are high school students who work together with the American Red Cross to play an active role in helping the community through various service projects, such as drives, making cards for blood donors and the VA hospital, or playing games and hosting CPR certification events to teach others about safety and first aid.

In this club we will build and launch model rocketry, while learning basic aerospace principles.

Students prepare for and compete in the national Science Olympiad competition. The competition includes, engineering and problem solving tasks in multiple areas of the sciences.

Spanish Club is open to all students and there are no dues to join. The Spanish Club works to promote an understanding and appreciation of Spanish and Hispanic culture.  All are welcome to join us at our meetings! Our meetings are a fun way to listen to speakers on local and national topics regarding Hispanic culture, watch culturally relevant movies, learn more about cultural holidays and events and to spend time with friends!

Stepping Out Club's purpose is to gain a deeper knowledge of the unique reality kids experience and develop an overall sense of the school culture for students with and without disabilities. The Stepping Out Club strives to open minds and improve one’s own perception of what can be achieved while having fun.  We meet once a month, and anyone can join!   We take new members all year long!

We take the student athlete leaders recommended by coaches and do various spirit type activities.  We will be hosting pep buses for the football tournament game.  The Athletic Boosters give us $2500 every year so we do not have to fund raise.  Some years we have leadership workshops with the money- this year we have bought a set of Sports Psychology Leadership books that are being used.  We organize Mr. Aviator.

Student Council is a group of student leaders who collaborate with others to impact their school community. Student Council members are elected by their peers to plan and facilitate school events, such as: school dances, fundraisers, and charity events. This club will meet three times a month: two at the HS and one at the senior center to play games with residents. Our goal is to reduce lonliness and provide companionship for senior citizens, along with buildling connections and learning experiences for both community members and students.
