Class Of 2026

Sycamore High School's graduation ceremony is formal and is intended to honor the individual and collective accomplishments of the class. They represent the finest of Sycamore High School and the Sycamore Community School District.  As such, students and parents deserve nothing less than an immaculate ceremony to honor a journey fulfilled and we make every effort in our planning to execute a memorable event, start to finish. 

We are looking forward to a Commencement that shows respect for our graduates and for the education we offer at Sycamore High School. The ceremony should be one in which every graduate and spectator can enjoy and take pride. To have that special ceremony, we must work together. Your support is essential, and we appreciate all that you do to continually help us. 

No disruptive objects, noisemakers, or other materials will be permitted during the ceremony. When your student's name is called, please be considerate of the timing of your celebration. Ensure that your applause and cheers do not interfere with the announcement of the next graduate's name. This will help maintain a respectful and joyful atmosphere for all graduates and their families. Thank you for making this moment special for everyone!

During the afternoon of graduation, doors for the ceremony will open to the general public at 1:00 p.m. All graduates must be at the Cintas Center for an attendance check at 12:45 PM.  It is mandatory for the graduates to meet for this attendance check, as this is when we verify with the Cintas Center staff which graduates will be on the “walking list.”  

1. Students attending Graduation will receive their diploma immediately following the graduation ceremony

2. Students that do not attend graduation can pick up their diploma on the next business day following the ceremony.

Every graduate will receive a medal at the graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievement.

Honor cords at graduation are granted based on the cumulative average calculated through the first semester of the senior year. 

Graduating with Honors (White Cord)

• Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 to 3.599

Graduating with High Honors (Gold Cord)

• Cumulative grade point average of 3.6 to 3.999

Summa cum Laude (Purple and White twist cord)

• Cumulative grade point average of 4.0 or higher

• Active member of NHS
• Receive a tassel and a cord

• Senior chapter officers (Blue & White cords)

• Students enrolled in Syn Lab that meet all criteria required by Syn Lab staff 

• Career & Technical Education student attending a Great Oaks campus and a member of the National Technical Honor Society

• Student council member/officer senior year

• Students need to have an A average in their language course through level V or AP
• Latin: Gold/Purple cord
• French: Royal Blue/White
• Spanish: Red/Gold
• ASL: Red/White/Blue
• Chinese: Purple

Seniors will be asked to complete a senior survey in SchooLinks at the end of April or early May. As part of that survey, students are asked to provide a personal email address and phone number. This will be used for alumni purposes. 

This is the time of year in which you and your graduate are thinking of what lies ahead. As they approach the era of becoming an "alumnus" of Sycamore High School, our alumni association would like to help you recognize them. In our Main Lobby hangs the "Always an Aviator" wall with silver plaques on it, each inscribed for a graduate or friend of the Sycamore family. If you would like to purchase a plaque to inscribe for your graduate-to-be, please contact . The plaques will be permanently affixed on the wall and proceeds will go towards an annual alumni scholarship given to one deserving Senior each year.
